Very disappointing turnout on Sunday night i felt especially as we has such an esteemed guest as Pat Nevin. Pat spoke very well i thought for the hour he was there and straight from the heart. No bullshit from this man. Good stories and honest opinions. I appreciate not all of the members can make all of their meetings all of the time, but i feel with a little bit more effort from more members we could get a decent turnout especially when the committee have organised a guest speaker. If low numbers like Sunday night are going to be the norm, then as a club we are going to struggle to get guests to come along. C'mon WESTA members!!!

The low turnout was probably due to it being a holiday weekend.

What will the excuse be for this Sunday's meeting. I have heard half the committee wont be there so how are the members expected to turn up. As i said before perhaps we should cancel these summer meetings if nothing is happening. I predict another low turnout and question whether it's worth going along myself and i stay in the City Centre!!!

The committee might be small this time but it's the perfectly formed element of the committee in attendance and we've lots to get through. We'll be sorting out some detail about the Faroes charter on Sunday and taking names. It might be ages away but we've got a plane to fill so need to start working on that asap. We'll also be discussing the way forward for the WESTA meetings. Voting for the Player of the Year event also imminent as we need to close the voting in plenty time to try and get the player at the party so we'll be discussing the criteria for that.
And..it looks like we've finally found a solution to the merchandise provision so will be discussing that too...and looking for ideas!

Agreed Mick. I thought Leslie chaired the meeting very well and although i questioned going along i felt it was worth it. I hope my previous post wasn't seen as me having a go at the committee, that's not what i intended. I thought the big former polis had a few interesting points also. Keep up the good work WESTA.

Hey Neil, Glad you found Derek's points interesting, I'm sorry I couldn't make it but I was sipping a chilled rose in the South of France.
We are doing well with good speakers and guests in recent months and hope to continue this, as you pointed out the summer months can be a difficult time to get people along to meetings, we just have to highlight that there is something to be gained or learned. WESTA are fortunate that we have a number of very capable people who can take the Chair and Mick I would duck down low the next time "The Wifie's" see you soft furnishings indeed !!! although I do find the sofa's in the Team Room very comfortable...........
