Brilliant, my father has told me all about that game. His hero was Dennis Law. I have read about him in other posts. Was he that good? Who was Jim Mccalliog? Eddie Macreadie? Did we ever win again at Wembley?

Great video. Where do I start? This magnificent game was won courtesy of a Scottish team with the great will to win. Led by Billy Bremner and Dennis Law watching the game all these years later on DVD it can be seen from the start that Dennis and Billy were not going to lose. They got stuck in. Remember that they played in England and were every bit as good as them. We always had a good if not better record in Wembley than Hampden though as always there were the odd disasters. Ronnie Simpson was 37 and playing his first game. He was the 'Tic goalie. He had made his debut aged 15 for Queens Park, went on to play for Newcastle Utd in the Cup Final, played for the Hibs and then in the European Cup Final that year. Mccreadie was an old stager , Chelsea player, hard as nails. Mccalliog was playing his first game, played for Sheffield Wednesday. Jim Baxter loved playing at Wembley and watching the game you see he actually doesn't play keepie up. What he does do from the first minute is demand the ball. When a Scottish player gets it, he's there. he slows the game down and we start taking the mickey. Dennis and Billy later on regret that we did not go for 5, that would be real legends. They are correct in their summation as in history the real and best victory were the Wembley Wizards. 5 - 1. For my part as although I was at the 1928 game I was too small to remember anything, each Wembley victory is a cause for national celebration.

I was at Wembley once with der mighty boys and lasses of Die Westa. The 1 - 0 win in 1999 was great although of course we did not qualify. We had lost 2 - 0 on Samstag, remember that Der Billy Dodds hit the bar late on! Typisch!! My recollection is that we were crowned world champs in 1967. However you's forget that you lost the next game and the crown to the USSR. Funny that. My memory is dim but was Der Harper not on the Westa bus. I remember Der Shambles. I distinctly remember having a can of Bier, the rest of the journey is hazy....!

I could spend hours speaking about Wembley '77. What a day. What a result and jings what an atmosphere. Think about it 30 years ago this year! June 4th 1977. This occasion should not go unmarked. Westa should have another Wembley night. We had one a few years ago. 2002 I think. There are a few of the players around. Que Sera Sera, whatever will be will be , we're going to Wembeleeeee , Que Sera Sera...............
