As Chairman of WESTA I would like to wish Bertie all the best in the forthcoming games. Just as a few years ago the away strip worn in Italia 90 was a real bummer and definetley led to the Costa Rica defeat the the modern new Fila home strip is just as big a disaster. The Iceland victory was with the change top. The yellow one looks good 2. So as chairman I would like in the short term to suggest a new strip. One that would do until the WESTA Gals come up with a better top. It may be controversial but I go for us wearing Brasil shirts. Think of it , the Lithuanians would crap themselves for the first 5 minutes. A quick goal then they would realise that we are rubbish. Then back to normal. Worth ATAC brining it up on Sunday?

Well Hamish, I suppose that it could be suggested that a few of the guys who have worn the dark blue in recent years could be described as "sand dancers" so we may as well go the whole hog and wear the colours of Brazil.
As we all know, when the team put five passes together, that's the cue for the song "It's just like watching Brazil".......
I agree the blue Fila strip is horrid, I do however quite like the yellow away top

I wish I was wrong, but i fear it will take more than a change of an admittedly minging top to change our current plight

Maybe I'm the only one but I prefer the home strip to the away but maybe that tells you alot about my dress sense Anyway, we can't use the strip as another excuse for some bad displays. After the Iceland and Canada game there was optimism about the team again, not a great deal, but it was a glimmer of hope. I don't think we should pack up and go home just yet. The Ireland game was a kick in the teeth but I believe we will get it right for the up and coming double header. I just hope the on form players get a chance, particulary up front with Miller and Dickov, who are both scoring the goals and contributing alot more as well to their respective teams. I admit that Dickov wasn't a favourite of mine in the past, but he's doing well and playing week in-week out compared to others who may be looked upon as further ahead in the picking order. My own choice would be Miller to partner Crawford upfront. Both are quick and Miller's confidence is high just now. If he keeps doing what he's been doing recently then he's got to be considered? McFadden as well should be moved up to the senior squad. I wish wee Berti all the best, I'm sure he's doing all he can to turn it round. Lets hope its sooner rather than later Well, I've said my bit. As Mark would say get on here and contribute. We've got just over three weeks to help oor Berti pick the team to get us the 6 points! Glenn. ps - and yes, I did have nothing to do at work today ;D

Miller is the man in form and should partner Crawford up front against Iceland. However, saying that I cant see Bertie picking a team without a 6 footer up front from the start.
Dickov continues to defy his critics and must be worth a space on the bench.
McFadden is definetly good enough if he can control his temperament. If Graham Alexander can get a game then McFadden definetly should.

I agree with Miller and Crawford up front.
Dickov has to be given another chance, the Faroes game wasn't his fault but he hasn't played since (I think).
McFadden is certainly good enough but like Mark I think he has to 'cool it' - too much of a hot head at the moment.
Graham Alexander can always take any penalties we might get - he scored again for Preston tonight.

If all we are doing is picking him to take pens I will happily run on and take them and leave him in Preston where he belongs.
Barry F would likely take any pens anyway although Dickov, Miller, Crawford etc have all taken pens lately.

Davy
Are you aware that Dailly has been dropped from the West Ham squad for the last three games? Also you have no place for Maloney who looks like scoring every time he gets a free kick....[just like me at Perth]

Tam, you only mentioned wee Maloney so you could remind us yet again of your one and only football glory on the park I'm not saying he isn't ready for the senior squad but again I think that Dickov and Miller are way ahead of the likes of him and Kyle. Taliban, I like the squad but I think that Cameron or Dickov will probably be looked over for Hutchison. I'd even pitch in Wilkie ahead of Dailly but maybe the rest is what he needed (or kick up the backside!!) McFadden is good enough, hot head or not, so its up to guys like Ferguson, Lambert etc to keep him right and tell him to concentrate on his football. Glenn.

Dont be surprised if Bob Malcolm starts at the back as Bertie likes him but most likely we will play with a back 3 and not 4 and the trio if fit will be Anderson, Pressley and Caldwell or Dailly.
I reckon Naysmith will get another chance at left wing back and if Bertie has eyes Devlin will play on the right instead of Alexander.
My team
Douglas
Anderson, Pressley, Dailly
Devlin, Cameron, Ferguson, Lambert, Naysmith
Crawford, Miller
Cheers Marky

Tam... I know Dailly has been dropped lately and he is not a favourite of mine, but the problem is who plays ahead of him? Caldwell is largely untried and these are make or break games where 4 points minimum are required. Wilkie (in my opinion) is a donkey and struggles to cope with Gerry Britton never mind Gudjohnson and such likes.
Marky.. same as above regards Anderson and Malcolm. These guys needed to be tried out in first team friendlies more often and not in the B games.
Frodo... McFadden is undoubtedly talented but we need 11 players on the park and I dont think we can guarantee that yet. Hutchison does not look anywhere near fit yet, maybe anyone who was at the Turkey B game can tell me different, I would like to see the guys who are in form now to be playing and that covers the forwards Ive suggested, apart from Kyle, but hes in for his height and no other reason.

Is Thomson suspended for 1 or 2 games? I think its one which means that he can play in Lithuania which may be an advantage as I seem to remember that they were a big side. Skerla at Dunfermline being a prime example.
