I have now spoken to Didier about the proposed home and away game since Sundays meeting where I was delighted with the positive response.
November is unfortunately too short notice for them so what we would propose is that we play them home and away in March / April / May time.
I trust that this suits everyone and I will establish a date that we will travel and get flights times sorted out and post them here for everyone to book through Ryanair.
Any other suggestions welcome.

Hi Marky
Just a very brief word of caution, I suspect that you may have thought of this...should we qualify then we will be arranging a couple of friendlies around this time (avoiding Easter) and should we not qualify we will be someone else's fodder in friendlies...

Dates is the major problem Jim. I believe that any friendlies would have to take place on international dates however. We have to try and avoid these dates.

Marky, April 12th is Easter Monday plus May 3rd and May 31st are the only ones I know of - unless you are talking English bank holidays as well. I don't know about them.

Mark and everyone, As Jim Broon has put up the international dates for 2004, do you think we would really be pushing things too far to arrange a game against our French freens' at one of the 'friendly' games - once we knew the match location?! Maybe I'm just getting withdrawl symptoms from Germany but hear me oot on this.......... It would kill two burdz' with one stone for getting the attached boys an 'away pass' oot their hoose going tae a Scotland game whilst ensuring a great experience for the French, supporting us against 'whoever' The day before the Scotland game itself we could play a 'one-off' against them in this neutral venue then get hospitalited. Even if Scotland play at Hampden on a Saturday then we could do all this on the Friday etc etc but I'm sure the players vote would go for the travelling instead!!! Like a' said its just an idea but it might just work Look forward tae everyone's comments.

Folks may have picked this up elsewhere, but it is being suggested that we may play an away friendly against Italy on 18 February - this is obviously dependant on whether we are grouped with them for Portugal (does this sound a bit assumptive?). The SFA have advised that no-one should book anything until the match is confirmed which would be after the Euro 2004 draw in December.
If this game goes ahead it is also being suggested that the game would be in the "South" of the country - that to be honest covers a lot of ground, food for thought Glenn

Hi Jim, Yeah totally agree that things like location is going to play a big part in whether we go ahead with such a plan. At the moment we can't even start to look into things as we can't tell yet if we are indeed going to be opposition for any 'big guns' going to the finals OR if we'll be there ourselves (fingers crossed!!) and getting the team prepared. Italy is our only definite, game wise, but is everyone involved going to agree to go ahead with it as well as head over there at that time of year? Like I said yesterday its just at the idea stage but IF we could do it then I think it would be a great trip for all players, supporters and our guests

The French lads are proposing to come over on the weekend of 23rd may next year. this seems like a good date as we have a holiday weekend on the following week and we could travel and play them UEFA Cup styley.
Any objections?
