A good game last night ended up in an 18 each draw with defences on top and Hamish reminding us all of days of yore when we had the likes of Jinky Johnstone and Bud Johnson in our line up.
Neil Harper exposed himself as a closet goal keeper and he will surely have to bring gloves in future so that he can save shots with his hands as well as his arse, knees and feet.
Laurie McGarvey graced the pitch at the tender age of 87 and showed that there is life in the Bankies yet, and Willie showed that not all Motherwell players are still getting pocket money from their Mums and have to ask to be allowed to stay out late to play midweek games, while Shambles resorted to his Partick Thistle type and launched long balls up the middle all night.
El Tel coaching Supremo Glenn was heard to say as he left the pitch "What a state Scottish Fitba's in, have I got to put a team together with these clowns!"
Same time next week then!

Hello all WESTA players and members As most of you will know it is that time of year again when the old (way too many!!) and the young (if there are any?) are brought together in the name of football for the 11-a-side tournament. After last years roller coaster campaign we will be hoping to go that step further and make it to the final but before we get ahead of ourselves we have Sunday's game against Rampant Lions TA from Dundee to contend with. The game, like last year, will take place at Glasgow Green with a 4pm kick off. As I discovered last year it is a nightmare to book a pitch in Glasgow so for those of you with third degree burns still visible, well...........its astro-turf again I have been in touch with the players and they are aware of where and when to be at the pitches but in case anyone claims they never knew please be there for 3.15pm sharp!!! Can I also ask that all non-players come along on the day and give your vocal support, whether its constructive or not, as its a WESTA day out as much as its a day for our football team. Afterwards, everyone will be heading back to the Ironhorse for 'refreshments' and hopefully for us, to enjoy a hard fought victory Any queries then don't hesitate to give me a shout, the managers door is always open!!! Cheers and see you Sunday. Glenn.

Hello again all WESTA footballers and fans. Yes its time again to polish your boots and get the wintergreen rubbed on the thighs for the next round of the TA 11-a-side cup.........and thats just the fans I'm talking about After our 'win' in the last round we are now drawn against Campbeltown TA with them being the home team. After trying abit of negotiating to get the game played at a half way point, it is now looking unlikely and the game will be played in Campbeltown itself. Therefore I need to know asap what players will be available and how many non-players wish to join us for the trip? Main reason for this is to book transport as well as getting us the right sized minibus this year to stop another uprising within the ranks!! So could I ask that everyone please get back to me either on here or by text message asap. I'll post an update for everyone by the end of the week. Cheers. Glenn.

Yes Tam I know, wasn't until I got home the other night I realised that I left the date of the game off from the post I can now confirm that the game has been arranged for May 2nd over in Campbeltown with approx' kick off time around 2pm. We will be leaving Glasgow, from the Iron Horse, at 10am sharp to give us plenty time to get there. Since we're looking to hire a minibus for the day, I need to know asap who will be going, both players and supporters. I will be sending a text out to all players and will be looking to know what the team will be over the weekend in time for our meeting on Sunday. If, for some reason, it looks like we may be struggling to have a team then I will cancel all travel and unfortunately give the tie to Campbeltown, so I need a prompt response from everyone!! Hope to see you all at the meeting on Sunday and I will give everyone an update then Cheers. Glenn.

Hello all. As most of you are now aware (if not then this should keep you right) the game against Campbeltown TA has now been moved to the following week, Sunday 9th May. The original date of May 2nd wasn't suited to everyone, probably due to it being a bank holiday weekend, and we couldn't get enough players together to make the journey worth our while. Now, after our meeting on Sunday and getting CTA to agree to the switch, I am delighted to say both players and supporters would be happy that we play the game the week after rather than not play the game at all The arrangements for travel aren't 100% yet but at the moment the plan is to hire a coach for the day, leaving the Iron Horse around 9am sharp and arriving in Campbeltown around 1pm - an hour or so before kick off. After the game has been played we'll go back for a quick pint/bite to eat with CTA then head back home for 9.30pm. Again, as I've said a number of times, anyone that wishes to go either as a player or a supporter needs to get back to me with a definite yes as soon as possible please!! In fact, I need to know numbers by mid-day this Friday!!!! I'm looking forward to the game and also to the trip in general, which will no doubt be an enjoyable day out no matter the result - WESTA jaunts usually are Speaking to the 'non-players' at Sundays meeting it looks like we might have a good support with us, lets just hope that we put up a better display on the park compared to those in dark blue these days?! That's another topic we can start after Wednesday night folks. Anyway, thats all for now but I'll post further info once I'm back from Denmark and when I know numbers etc going on the bus. Cheers. Glenn.

Hi folks. Just a quick email to remind everyone that the bus this Sunday will be leaving for Campbeltown at 9am sharp from the Iron Horse. This should get us there in plenty time for the kick off at 2pm. Davie from CTA has told me that refreshments including beer as well as food will be laid on for us back at their local. After the game, a quick sausage roll and a pint, we'll be heading back to Glasgow just before 7pm to get us back into the city centre at half decent time that night - some of us have school the next morning you know!! ;D For all the players, please remember to bring boots as the game will be played on grass and no too much bevvy the night before but you can have as much sex as you can get!!! Right, thats about it for now so I'll see you all Sunday morning. C'mon the WESTA. Cheers. Glenn.

Well played the WESTA 13 who valiantly competed with CTA before going down 3-1 in a `competitive` game.
Full report to follow from Glenn/Mark but I can tell you that CTA veteran midfielder was sent off for headbutting Mark Adams!!!!!! [relax girls his good looks remain unaltered]
