Any great memories of the National Stadium? My first international was in 66 and the 4 - 3 defeat by the Auld Enemy. A great header by Dennis Law and 2 by Jinky Johnstone was not enough to avoid defeat. Kenny's goal in 84 against Spain a cracker. Stewart Mckimmie's winner against the world champs Argentina in '90 friendly, a beezer. An Ayrshire lad accosting Tommy Madden and myself in a toilet at Hampden requesting further info on WESTA! The 89 World Cup final in the Under 16 tournament losing to an over age Saudi Arabia Under 23 team! Guess what we missed a penalty in normal time and lost on penalties! Willie Donnachie's own goal in '78 against Wales. The dust storm under the roof at the Rangers end when we scored. The old North Stand. 1970 goaless draw against England. 137,438 in attendance. I stood in the North enclosure! Did you know that Hampden twice had crowds of 149,000? Please consider the above figures, and the queues for tickets at the weekend for a ground now holding 52,000!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well Hamish you got me thinking !
In addition to those mentioned, I'll always have wonderful memories of king Kenny putting the ball into the net through the gaping hole that was Clemence's legs, I was on the old East terrace behind the goal and jumped that high I almost touched the top of the floodlights
Or outside the ground before a home international against Wales, when a half pi$$ed jock says to a female police officer sitting on a horse "haw hen yer horse is swettin" to hear her reply "Sir, so would you be with these legs around your neck" absolutely priceless!
And of course there was a certain League Cup Final on the 23rd October 1971, where as a youngster in the Old North Stand I witnessed something that was both remarkable and set up an impressionable kid for a further lifetime of dreams
Everyone with have their memories and between us we could write a book

I was at the Thistle game 71! The 76 game I was also in the Ctic end in the rain just in line with Clemences legs!! Remember Danny Mcgrain running the length of the pitch and duffing it! Roughy dribbling the ball and Jaws last minute tackle. The good old days..................

The good memories of the Holland game now seem so distant. Lets hope the world cup draw brings a big team to Hampden. Teams to avoid. Faroe Isles Lithuania Estonia Holland.................... England france Price of beer in Norway! Belgium , not again.
