Are there any words to describe yesterday? I cant wait until wednesday.
For so long we have been nearly men in beating this quality of team and finally we have done it. (in my life time anway)
What a day. Who is all for a good old sing song this week in the dam? Where will all the WESTA members be going on the day of the game or before?

In the pantheon of great games at Hampden this ranks as up there with the best. 1973 Czech 2 - 1 1962 1st win against England at home in 25 years. 1974 my first England victory. 1982 Spain and 2 Dalglish peaches. 1989 2 - 0 against France. 1965 1 - 0 win against Italy courtesy of a last minute John Grieg screamer. The atmosphere was unbeleivable and the best bit apart from the goal was the gigantic cry of pain as the 4 minute injury time sign was posted. This was followed by the crowd roaring, and I mean roaring til the final whistle! Rocking all over the world, better than Wembley '96! And then after the game meeting the WESTA lads and gals. A kiss from them all and a big hug.
As the Specials sang in 1979. A message to you Rudi!
6ft 2 eyes of blue big Lee Wilkies after you....................

Obviously everyone is too gutted to even talk about the game.
Watched it again last night on my return and it didnt get any better.
Big Rab had a nightmare, no organisation by Pressley. Worst I have ever seen Naysmith. I could go on forever.
Only pass marks for me were Faddy and Fletch, they are the future and who we must build around although we are expecting a hell of a lot from a 19 year old with about a dozen senior games under his belt.
Worst for me though was Frank de Boer scoring from a set piece. To lose 3 goals in such a fashion was terrible. Why were we defending free kicks in the 6 yard box?
Holiday brochures anyone?

I can't believe reading in The Record -that supposedly after "that match" the TA went back into town to party the night away - they must have been in a different town from me.
The train back into A/dam was subdued with only a couple of guys dropping a few funnies to cheer folk up.
the pubs were busy but quiet, the RLD was busy but quiet, if someone was having a party I'm glad that I missed it, I wanted (and found) a dark corner with a few mates and plenty of beer.
NOW I seem to have got over the worst of it...roll on Italy in February !!!!

I can't believe some of the reactions from journalists after the match. Bob Shields critticism of the Tartan Army mystified me - what does he expect during a 6-0 humbling. Given the extent of our humiliation I thought most of the guys took it pretty well. Bill Leckies rant against Rab Douglas was also way ott. Its a bit much to pin everything on one scapegoat when we quite obviously failed so spectacularly in every department. Meanwhile the party spirit post match was definitely back a couple of hours after the game in the area of the Dam I was in. After a few Amstels the "for the first 5 minutes we had you on the run" and "getting humped all over the world" ditties were getting belted out and all of a sudden the defiance was back and everyone was up for it again. As someone said earlier in this forum see ya in Italy! PS I agree with what Marky said about Fletch/Faddy but we must find some physical presence from somewhere as well. Last couple of games against germans/dutch we've looked like a team of midgets. Where have all the big guys gone? We don't seem to have any in the U21s or 19s either.

Yup, I have just heard that the Italy game is off and that Greece looks a likely bet.....I was at the last game in Athens a few years back during a very cold December (two weeks before christmas if I remember) have to say that it was not particularly pleasant, myself a few other of the WESTA guys and maybe a total TA support of 100 had to run the gauntlet after the match...hope things have changed.
Word of advice if in Athens and you see a sign that says PUB it's actually a knocking shop - took us ten PUB's to work it out............ HA HA
Hey Slasher, there is a possible game in Copenhagen and a widely reported possible tour of Canada and the U..S next May - plenty comments on the TAMB - just for your info if you are trying to make plans - as your mates have discovered it's safer to sit tight and wait for confirmation
