As I am now a fully paid up member of WESTA, I feel more comfortable in asking for your help.
At the last meeting if you were there you may remember that I gave a wee talk on the Sunshine Appeal, a Tartan Army wide appeal to give a little back to under priviliged children in foreign countries that Scotland play in. Hamish very kindly asked what we needed in terms of donations or items and I replied that we were well off for everything of a tangible nature. Howver we do need help in one department and that is the logistical side of things i.e. transporting the Backpacks filled with things like jotters, pens, pencils, toiletries and other things we have either collected or bought for the Lithuanian children. Nancy very kindly suggested that the WESTA tour would take over 32 of the back packs. These Back Packs are unlikely to weigh more than a couple of kilos each and I would appreciate if this can in fact be done. I will meet you off your flight in Vilnius on the Monday evening and take them all back to my hotel before presenting them to the children in an orphanage in Vilnius on the Tuesday afternoon.
If this is okay with everyone then I will bring the Back Packs to the Iron Horse on the 23rd. Please let me know if this is still acceptable to the club, also if there is anyone in the club who is travelling independently and is willing to take a back pack or 2 over then let me know and I can bring more.
If you want to find out more about the Sunshine Appeal please read the Sunshine Appeal forum on the Tartan Army message board at www.t-army.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi
Sorry Marky for using this board but we are desperate, there has been a tremendous amount of effort put into this and it would be terrible if we came unstuck by not being able to get the goodies over to the kids.
