My feeling yesterday was one of dissapointment but also of no great surprise. Several Westa members approached me and asked for guidance as to what we should do as fans.
Our game has sunk as low as it can get, the U 21s lost as well, but I believe the signs are there with Anderson, Gordon, Marshall, Barry ferguson and Fletcher that it will get better. A wee bit better.
However what can we as fans , as the Tartan Army do?
We have to be more demanding of those involved in football.
Next time you meet a teacher and he claims that some strike in the 80s killed off schools football. Then give him a good telling off and tell him to get off his arse & help the kids.
Next time you are watching kids fitba and some half witted parent bawls at the boys for daring to try some ball skills, then march over and politley tell him to shut up ( forever ).
Next time some duff SPL manager tells a crap broadcaster that the 5 - 0 drubbing from the old firm means that his team will work harder on the training ground in the following week. Then just wonder what do our managers do with our players all week?
Next time Scotsport is on and contrives to miss goals, and continues to be sheer rubbish. Starts a new season with a 20 item on Henrik Larsson. And employs a lady with no apparent knowledge of fitba. Bombard STV with complaints.
Next time Jim Traynor and his colleagues blame the Tartan Army for the ills of Scottish Football , and they have, then switch off his demeaning phone in. Write to the BBC and get him off.
Every time you are at a football game and the skill level is rubbish then shout at the board, not the players. Write to them and ask just what they are doing to our game.
Next time you are at a game and there is not at least 2 wingers on the park then shout at the manager, loudly!
Finally please don't ever say that coaches have killed the game and that natural talent will magically appear and Scottish fitba will rise agian.
Football has changed and nations of all sizes now have access to better facilities and utilise coaching skills to make kids better. You can teach kids how to play football. Thats what everybody else does! Holland is not much bigger than us and they teach the kids. They teach them to play in a ceratin style and teach them total football. Natural talent just makes them even better.
Please do not accept second best. Demand more.
Please
