This song when sung correctly is not a 'dirge' in my opinion. I think it is a rousing song and gets the hairs on the back of my neck standing every time.
The TA sing it at different speeds from the bands, we need a Ronnie Brown or Clydebank Men's Choir to lead us, when that happens it sounds brilliant.
If David Taylor is trying to blame this song for the team playing crap then he needs his head examined. The players shouldn't need a song to get hyped up for a game.

I agree Janis - remember the 1990 Murrayfield rendition that nearly knocked the English off their feet.
It doesn't have the same impact as the Welsh or French anthems ( don't ask me to spell either ) - but it's better than any other current option.
Having someone to lead the singing is also a good idea - I thought the last Hampden singing was as good a version as I've heard for a while. Might be good if the players also felt they could sing along to it ...

In my view we cannot hop from "Anthem" to Anthem, I have heard many an anthem in foreign climes and ours is up there with the rest of them.......good/bad, makes no difference it's our anthem and we should be proud of it.
Like everything else it's down to execution, the TA have been known to sing too high and too fast. Bill's right when the Rugger Buggers get goin it's something else, it really gets to you.
The fitba mob need educated, if we sing along with an individual, a choir or a bouncing ball on the scoreboard, we can get it right.
I agree with David Taylor its slow, a bit dour and maybe a bit of a dirge...but it's ours and we're keepin' it.

The Welsh are all trained sing when bouncing on Grandad's knee and the Marsailles is a very rousing tune but Flower of Scotland is ours, it means something about who we are are what we stand for.
Taylor once again is talking pish to deflect from the real issues, team performance, poor facilities, poor youth development.

Whit aboot Donald wheres your troosers for the national anthem... just imagine it... the TA all singing "let the winds blow high, let the winds blow low, through the streets in ma kilt I go" etc whilst all dancing an eightsome reel on the terraces. Absolutely magic. I think we should put this to Taylor and see if he'll lead us all off at the next game.
