Message here from Scott Kelly to WESTA members
Dear All
As a St Galmier "veteran" (or a friend of St Galmier) you will know the annual “Scottish Weekend” organised by LAFESG (L'Alliance Franco-Ecossaise de St Galmier) is not taking place 'formally' in 2006. They are waiting for 2007 and activities around the rugby world cup (for which St Galmier's 'Charpiniere' may be eventual host to Scotland). Note also, Scotland play in France at football in September 2007 as well.
Some of the veterans are planning to visit the town this summer anyway and the weekend of 14th July 2006 has been agreed. The activities for the weekend are to be confirmed but it is certain to include BBQs, wine tasting and lots of other amusing things (will decide more about these and about accommodation once we know numbers). If there were enough players, football could also be arranged during the weekend...
Anyway, if you are interested to come this weekend, please let me know (scottk01@globalnet.co.uk or 07768 814086). I will keep you posted about activities and we will co-ordinate accommodation...
Regarding travel, Ryanair is the usual route Friday to Monday works out 71 quid (Stansted - StE) – which has strangely gone down in price recently. It is an early start though from Stansted!!! Plenty other routes should be available however. Flights to Lyon are probably practical for many and the TGV from Paris following cheap flight to Paris or Eurostar should be affordable.
Regards
