The world famous victory of 1967 over the self styled world champs was a Euro Qualifier that nicely set us up for a 1 -0 defeat courtesy of the genius of George Best, ask Janet, she was there! Needing a win in the last game against you know who we managed only a draw and from my viewpoint in the North enclosure by Yogi Hughes should have buried a late chance. That ended out first section in glorious failure was followed by a group including Portugal, Belgium and Denmark. Standing in the Celtic end I witnessed a 1 – 0 victory over the Danes courtesy of John O’Hare. Tommy Docherty’s first game was a 2 – 1 win over the Portuguese with Bob Wilson winning his first cap. By the way Archie Gemmill played against Belgium away! Things were starting to look better!
