WESTA carried a huge support to Kiev, it was great to see so many members out supporting the team.
From Tuesday evening at Independance Square where a number met up and via various bars we found ourselves in the Kiev version of The Sports Cafe until the early hours,"Whit a night" with all the favourites on the CD player the party was in full flow - we were even treated to the "WESTA Slosh" what a sight as over thirty people danced the slosh in the middle of the pub !
On the Wednesday it seemed as everywhere I went I came across more WESTA - as for the match well I think bluntly the better team won - after the match after stopping off at hotels, bars etc the WESTA party was underway again at the Sports Cafe - although a bit more subdued than the Tuesday.
Everyone was in top form, fully supportive of the team and recognising the strengths and weaknesses of our efforts. The referee was obviously coming in for some criticism, a WESTA member who shall remain nameless, was told that the guy in the suit at the bar in the Hotel Rus, straight after the game ,was the Ref, said member then duly started taking 'photos only for the guy, who was HUGE, to grab the camera off him and start shouting something in what sounded like Russian, camera was retrieved and friends were made..........we know who you are..........
