Alan Hansen was once at a meeting, he came to interview Westa with a fil crew for a documentary on ' Scottish fitba'. He refused initially to speak which led to a walk out by Chairman Tommy Madden & a few others. I , media tart, and a few others were interviewed. We were great. Alan did agree to speak and was really good. he spoke about having been to Wembulee as a kid and being a big Scotland fan. However being part of the Liverpool lads an a pal of Souness he got pelters at Hampden. Things got so bad he warmed up beside Souness as he got all the flack. the crowd were too busy shouting at Souness that he was left aloe! At the end of the talk I asked for a round of applause and asked the members to let Alan feel at home and requested that they boo him on his way out. They all did!!!!!! Westa were not shown on his documentary!

Get this, We had Ian Ure as a guest many years ago, formerly of Scottish champions Dundee, Arsenal & Man Utd, signing just after they had won the Euro cup in '68. Proud to have worn the jersey 11 times we were privileged in that he brought 1 along with him. He wasn't a fan of Baxter and I gather that his antics were too much for Ian. he revealed that the 4 - 3 defeat in '63 against Norway was in part due to the drinking contest held the night before when slim jim challenged wee willie henderson to a drinking contest. Those were the days!

Remember the Croatians back in the Horse after the drab 0 - 0 draw in 2001. They had been there all week & had learnt all the songs. We were all dancing and the floor was rocking! They all took their tops off and had all obviously been working out. the lasses were stunned! Not to be outdone Jimmy Cormack was the 1st Scot to follow. All now agree that in the debacle that followed he had the best abs shown by a Scotsman that night. jings!!!!! The Croatians laughed for a week! I was in Greaves sports a few weeks later and a sales assistant told me that the Croatian goalie had bought a new pair of gloves for the game and since he had kept the receipt and they had not been used they gave him his money back..........!

I remember the day when Westa played against a team with a goalie with one arm. Surely not! The rumour the lad lost it in a mysterious masonic handshake! You'll be saying next that Tam Coyle scored a cracker of a goal for the mighty Westa?!

Remember when the SfA dropped the price for hampden friendlies about 3 years ago and Westa members passed a motion that the money should be increased! We discussed it for an hour and we sent a letter. The reply was that they had dropped the price to get in and westa had asked that they pay us to attend the matches. I thought it was a perfectly reasonable request. if they paid the players then they should have paid us. ( lots)
