Can anyone help me out by telling me the easiest way from Dusseldorf, to the venue of the u21 game. I am a novice on the web and the only sights i have found are in German.

I've been looking as well but there seems to be more than one Ahlen in Germany.
Where is Jim Broon when you need him?

We're also planning on going and here is some details I got from a user on the tarten army messageboard:
I must be looking at something differently - I get it so that its an hour and a half from Dusseldorf Station, and costs €43.40 return, the wrong side of £25 I think.
Direct service at 16.54 gets you into Ahlen at 18.23, but coming back you have to change at Hamm - however, its almost as quick coming back, and you're right they do run till fairly late - depends whats there though!!
This place is the other side of Dortmund - which is where this train stops - via Bochum & Duisburg as well. A bit of a trek for those of us in Dusseldorf, but if the U21s play as well as they did in Vilnius it'll be well worth the jaunt.

Hi Guys
Germany Calling....I have just picked up on this thread. The price quoted looks to be about right but the train can be a bit of a pain as you are having to move around according to the timetables.
WESTA will have a coach in Dusselforf, the obvious thing to me is get a sufficient size group together and have a word with the driver.

Excellent suggestion , at the next WESTA meeting we will find any others wanting to travel, and perhaps see if Broons suggestion is possible.

Have a look at the deutsch-bahn website - gives you train timetables and fares point to point in Germany.

We dont arrive in Dortmund via Stansted till mid afternoon. Assuming a couple of hours later we've found our hotel and dumped our gear do we have time to make it to Ahlen? What time does U/21 game kick off?

SLASHER MA BOY! WHERE YOU BEEN? TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, TRAINS FROM DORTMUND TO AHLEN ARE CHEAP AND OFTEN. AS LONG AS THERE ARE NO DELAYS ON THE FLIGHTS WE SHOULD MAKE THE 21'S GAME NO PROBS. DEZ AND JIM ARE TALKING ABOUT GOING TO ALTER MARKT FOR A SWALLY AND GIVING IT A MISS BUT I'M UP FOR GOING. AS WELL AS THE WESTA MOB THERE IS A CROWD OF DUNDEE LADS I KNOW ARE GOING SO IT SHOULD BE GOOD CRACK. P.S. SOME LAUGH DEZ NOT GETTING A TICKET AND THE WEE BOY GETTING ONE. IT CRACKED ME UP WHEN I HEARD. ;D

Just for information lads @ lassies, the game is in the versa stadium Alhern kick off 8.30pm. It is pay at the gate as ussual with the prices being 10 euros for the main stand, 7.50euros for the covered end and 4 euros for the uncovered. According to the SFA a train from Dortmund will cost 6euros and 60cents, hope this helps lads/lassies.

Thanks for that Donny. Yes JP I've had a look at the Deutsch Bahn thingy & we should make it ok. I told Dez what you said by the way & his reply went along the lines of 'wait till I see that baw bag'. I'm still trying to sort out summat for the Faroes game but you know how it is. I've been taking the wee man to Hampden since he was 3, so a pre match swally at home games has become a thing of the past for me. Looks like I'll have to wait till he's a bit older (13 now) or hope the Scots parly gets on with sorting out these drinking laws sharpish.

Did anyone get an explanation as to why, after Maloney's goal the Germans stuck on a cd and left it on the rest of the game? Is this common practice in Germany, Broon? I thought this sort of thing wasn't allowed. I seem to remember Celtic being rebuked by Uefa a couple of years ago for playing an intro over the p/a a few times during a European tie.

Hi Slasher
As is common just about everywhere, the Germans stick on a CD after a goal but it's normally for the home team and it's their theme tune (whatever it may be - 500 miles etc).
I haven't come across it for the visitors and it's never left on, I have asked a few folk around the office but their response is - Eintracht don't score enough goals for them to notice !!!
I cannot offer an explanation and no one here seems to know
Broon.
