TRAINS FROM COLOGNE TO DUSSELDORF (WEEZE)

Mr. Chairman, as you are resident in Cologne and i'm being lazy, how far is it by tain and roughly what is the cost? I think i'll be in cologne in December and am looking at travelling back to Prestwick from Dusseldorf if i can do the above journey relatively painlessly!

Hey Neil,

Weeze is a pain to get to from cologne- so much so that I have never used it.

From Cologne you can get a train up to D/dorf then if it's during the week you get a Regional Express, every 30 mins to the nearest station Niederhein which is a 15 mins bus shuttle run, at the weekend you are Donald D'd.

There is a bus from Cologne 2.5 hours and 18 euro single to weeze and vice versa

BUT if you are coming to Cologne for the Christmas Markets and the only reason for Weeze is cheap Ryanscare flights THEN consider flying with GERMAN WINGS from Edinburgh to Cologne - their fares are comparable to Ryanair but the service is .....well service compared to the other mob - good planes, good prices and right into cologne - a lot less hassle getting to EDI than Weeze

Thanks for all that Jim. It did look like a bit of a pain. There was no problem getting to Cologne from Edinburgh with German Wings but they didn't fly back on the Monday resulting in too long a stay, hence the thinking behind coming home from Dusseldorf. It was indeed a visit to the Christmas markets, however Ryanscare have started/are starting flights to Budapest from Prestwick so have booked a nice 5 star hotel there for pennies along with a cheapo flights. Always wanted to go to Budapest and set out for there in a hire car from Vienna back in 98 or 99 but took a wrong turning and ended up in Bratislava!!! There's a story there too!!!
