Hi folks, I'm having an argument with an English workmate as to which is the best army, tartan or barmy (English cricket supporters <spit>) He reckons we are a bunch of pissheids while his lot go around the world raising money for charity (aye right) . SO.....can anybody tell me or provide me with a link as to charitable deeds done by the TA? Cheers guys!

Hi Pagan
People really shouldn't shout about their charitable endeavours, it's not a competition - it's about giving something, no matter how little back to those less fortunate....make sure you tell your "Barmy Army" mates that.
However if you need some ammo, go onto the TAMB (tartan army message board) and go into the area titled The Sunshine Appeal - here you will find some reference to some of the many charitable ventures of the TA - many of the individual supporters clubs including WESTA assist other without shouting.
Cheers and let's all help others particularly at this time of year

I have to agree completely with Broon. When someone goes about telling all they've done for charity, it negates the giving spirit of the deed. To give a gift is to ask nothing back; but when you go about using it as a means of blustering yourself or, as in this case, a particular group with which you are associated, you're ASKING for attention.
Few people can stand a braggart, and even fewer have patience for a publicity seeker. If someone performs acts of charity from their heart, they don't go about doing the equivalent of jumping up and down and saying, 'Look at me! Look at what I've done! Aren't I wonderful?' That's NOT charity, it's just paying for your caps.
Cheers, Sarah!

Ask your mate what that clear stuff he is drinking at every cricket game on the telly.
Rivalry can be healthy but clearly this guy is a twat. Many people are aware of the good support they give to the English cricket team, god knows they need it, but "is it all for charity mate"?
Cant do accents on a web forum, sorry!
